Two wheeler Registration process in Hyderabad RTA

*****31-Oct-2017:Prashant has shared latest process in his blog. I am adding the link at the end of this blog.

This post was written in Feb 2010 and there seems to be some change in process, Please look at the comments posted bRajaSekhar (28 April 2017) in user comments section. Thanks*****

Last month I purchased a new Honda Activa (Two wheeler) in Hyderabad. I was a bit anxious before this deal as dealer said I need to take care of vehicle registration process. However he assured me that he has got some agents who can do this process of my behalf but will charge somewhere Rs 1000.

After enquiring the RTA Hyderebad site I was confident that two wheeler registration should not cost me more that Rs 200.I decided to give a try.

After a week of purchase of my vehicle, I went to RTA office, Kondapur. Finding the correct RTA office is a tough task. Dealer gave me the information about the RTA office and its address.

I was carrying all the documents provided by dealer 1. Form 20 2. Form 21 3. Form 22 4. Life Tax Receipt 5. Temp Registration certificate 6. Original Invoice 7. Insurance copy

Apart from this I carried following documents 1. Xerox of PAN card (Identity proof) 2. Address proof 3.Passport size photograph 4. Self addressed envelop(for dispatch of RC)

I also carried a pencil to take impression of Engine no and Chassis number.

I reached the office at 10.30 am. I noticed a paper pasted on the wall near to the counter which lists all the document required for registration. I arranged the documents according to the list and in the same order. Approached to the counter. The officer had a look at my application form and tried to search in the computer. It seems entry against my vehicle was not available so he asked me to wait for another 30 min. After 1 hour or so he accepted my application and received fee of Rs 185 (Registration charge 160 + Rs 25 towards postal charge) and issued one receipt. He asked me to go for Vehicle inspection. There was different queue for vehicle inspection. After waiting for around 15 minutes my turn came. vehicle inspector asked me to read the engine and chassis number. I had some difficulty in locating these numbers as its punched in the lower part of vehicle. One gentleman helped me in this task.
MVI asked me take the impression of Engine no and chassis no on the application number. I did it with great difficulty with 20% accuracy. The impression was not readable at all. Anyway I submitted this application form to MVI and he informed me that I should be getting the RC within 7 days by post. The entire process took me around 2 hours.

Exactly withing a week I received my RC by post.

Applying for new vehicle registration has been made very simple and we should take the benefit of it. there is no need to go through any agents. Hope this post help to the people looking for new vehicle registration.

Hi, Useful post buddy.
I have my new Shine ready for registration. Even I am planning to approach directly RTA office instead of finding an agent.

Unlike other dealers like Bajaj or Hero Honda, the honda dealers are not making arrangements for permanent registrations. Instead they give few agents numbers to contact and the agent charges around 800-1200 for the 2 wheeler. Which is very huge amount.

Now I have confidence that I can get permanent registration without agents.

Thanks for the Post buddy.

Thanks a lot Binod..u shared very valuable information indeed. Even am curious of knowing the actual process of registration as i need to do it 4 my bike. And the showroom guy told it costs 480 + agent fee of around 200-300. somehwere else i heard it costs 350. this led me to confusion and wanted to know if we can do it ourselves.. Appreciate u for the info. provided.. Am confident dat I can get it done on my own now..
But one thing is still bothering me..wat do they accept for address proof. i dont have any local address proof other than what my company provides.. which is private limited company.
If binod or anyone can throw some light on dis, it wud be of great help for me..

its good post.. thanks.

Now it is 395/- ( They will ask round figure Rs.400/- :))

Please carry your own Pencil and sharpener (Agents over there will not give/help you)

Also I observed a funny thing that the So called agents or brokers will treat you as their enemy or as if you are looting their money ( :D) if you are doing your own vehicle registration on your own without depending on them..

:D:D

Last month (Aug 09 2013)I purchased a new Honda Activa (Two wheeler) in Hyderabad. But after 3 days that, I went to Pune and came back on 07th Sep 2013. Now I have all the required documents with me for permanent registration.
I heard that the permanent registration should be done before one month. Now, My question is, can I register my vechile on tuseday (10th Sep 2013)? As Saturday was telengana bund and Monday is publich holiday for RTO.
Can you suggest me how can I do the registration?

Binod said...

Hi,
I have absolutely no idea on how to complete registration after one month of vehicle purchase. I can only suggest to go to RTO office and make an enquiry.

Also can you share your experience in this blog so that it might help others please?

Hi Guys let me share one important thing is you should give the address proof which u had given at the time of purchage the vehicle.

Unknown said...

There is no different process even after 1year. Only thing you would pay penalty (same info you can find on papers given at the time of purchase) is nominal 25 or 50.

Hi, After reading this blog I also went for registration myself. Reached the place at 9:30, the official opening time I think was 11 but the Security Guard took my papers arranged them and gave me the receipt for the fee much before that. There was a little chaos afterwards for the police constable to come and take the chassis number, but it all went very smooth.
For other people going there I want to add a few things:
For 2 wheelers you do not need to take the impression of the engine number. I spent a lot of time/effort doing that only to find later that it was not required.
I did not have any proper address proof. All I had was the letter from HDFC bank stating that according to my request the address has been changed to this. The RTO office guys did not care about that. In fact the security guard who helped me said it is not required for you.
All in all a good experience and a good saving.

Just to add to the previous post, I went to RTO Kondapur in Hyderabad.

Hello, very useful post Binod i appreciate your work.

Well i have brought a new pulsar 150 from Sri Vinayaka mobikes (p)LTD. in kachiguda. they have charged me 700rs for T/R and 1000rs for registration all included in on road price and they have informed me that they will give me an agents number where in which he will be helping me in registering my bike and agents has called me and asked me to bring the necessary documents along with 400rs. I was confused and i dont understand why the agent is again asking for extra money when i have already paid 1000 and wanted to know how much exactly does it cost to register a bike and now am shocked to hear that it not more than 200 and these dealers are fooling the customers by including the charges in on road price today am going to register my bike and i dont understand should i do it on my own as it soo simple or should i go with the agent. so all to gather they have charging me 2200 for my bike registration. soo guys in hyderabad please be aware of these dealers they gonna suck ur money if you believe in them.

Registration can be done in very simple way. I got it registered in RTO office Kondapur Hyderabad. Without any agents involvement.

Registration can be done in 3 simple way
1) verification of paper and fee payment at counter c2
2) pay the number plate fee
3) photograph , thumb impression and e-signature ..c1

That s all.

Reached RTO office at 10am Saturday 19sep15 and got into the small queue at counter C2 which was for document verification and fee payment 395rs only.counter opens at 10.30am but u can see agents slipping from the side door and getting the work done before the counter opening time. But For me too it took hardly 10mins as I never opted for agent.

After counter c2 I was told to pay 250 as number plate charges too and then visit c1 counter for photograph ,Thumb impression and signature.
when I reached c1 I could see a long queue of 25 plus people which made me surprised as I was 3 person standing in c2. Soon I realized that for all these 25plus agents had already cleared c2 counter for them.
But nevertheless c1 also too hardly 15-20 mins for me.

The the last step is verification by some police people as they will take the impression of chessie number on paper using pencil. That was also an easy task. And I was free in less then 1hr with no agent involvement as agents can only help u to skip counter c2 process. I recommend to avoid agent as u will have to visit rto office for c1 counter process.

Hope this helps.
